Who was Lolita? These sexy, heart glasses were made popular by the film of the block buster best selling novel by Vladimir Nabokov and the heroine has inspired a whole Lolita fashion movement with Classic Lolita, Black Lolita, Goth and Sweet Lolita offshoots.

The book was first published in 1955 and then made into a movie by Stanley Kubrickin 1962; these cute and steamy heart shaped sun glasses have never been out of fashion since and are still cool today - just swipe a glance at Marylin Manson videos and lyrics (below).

This is the sixth track on the 2007 release Eat Me, Drink Me by the singer Marilyn Manson, and not only are the glasses a direct reference to Lolita, but the title Eat Me, Drink Me quotes from Alice in Wonderland and has Vampire connotations! See Heart Shaped Glasses lyrics

Who inspired the song?

Marilyn Manson explains the inspiration for the song on BBC Radio where he recounts the time that he was reading Nabokov's Lolita, when his then girlfriend, Evan Rachel Wood turned up wearing a pair of heart shaped specs. Wood was much younger than Manson, and this also echoes the relationship between Humbert Humbert and Lolita in the novel.

Three years after the song and official video, (not suitable for children), Wood and Manson have been spotted together, she still wearing those cute glasses. clikc here for more pictures and news.

Madonna looked resplendent in a pair of Moschino heart shaped sunglasses for her Sticky and Sweet concert tour in August 2008, London. This was the eighth worldwide concert tour by American singer Madonna to promote her eleventh studio album, Hard Candy. Dressed in black the star looked fabulous in her over-sized white glasses with black lenses, but it might not be easy to find the same ones. Follow this link for pictures.

According to LOOKBOOK.nu, Madonna threw her glasses into the crowd and they were caught by Lau Nv Buenos Aires, Argentina. Lucky or what!

So many other stars have been caught in their sugar sweet specs and age is no barrier! Madonna was 51 when she wore hers. Britney Spears sported shocking pink while Drew Barrymore wore a pink pair on the set of her new film Going the Distance, which co-stars ex-boyfriend Justin Long and Kelly Osbourne has been indulging for years and apparently Tracey Lomrantz has seen her and her boyfriend in matching pairs.
